You'll need a small bucket and some water to soak the soil-less mix and peat pots. |

Add the soil-less mix to the bucket. |

Add some water |

Mix it up! |

Separate the peat pots from one another and lay them in the propagation tray.
add enough water to cover. |

|
Set a timer for about 30 minutes. |
 |
|
|
Select healthy, mature leaves with at least 1 inch of stem. Use an Exacto
knife or razor blade to cut the leaf. |
 |
|
|
Trim the stem to about 1 inch, cutting at an angle.
|
 |
|
|
Option - you can "square" the leaf to stimulate root development.
|
 |
|
|
After 30 minutes, drain the pots and squeeze out any excess water from the soil-less
mix. |
 |
|
|
Fill the pots to about 1/2 inch from the top with soil-less mix. |
 |
|
|
Optional - Add a few drops of Superthrive to 2 - 4 cups of water and soak the cut
leaves for about 10 minutes. |
 |

|
Using a chopstick or pencil, make a hole in the soil-less mix at a slight angle.
Insert the leaf stem about 1/2 inch and press the mix around the stem. |

|
Fill out the dome label with the date and number of cuttings. |
 |
|
|
Place the dome on the tray and place the tray in an appropriate window for propagating
african violets. |
